Our History
Back in 1971, the Stewart family founded the Raleigh Flea Market at the Historic State Fairgrounds with a mere six tables and just a handful of vendors. By the 1980s, the Stewarts had grown the flea market into one of the Triangle’s most popular shopping destinations with nearly 1000 vendors, spanning six buildings and several acres on the fairgrounds campus.
The Future
In 2008, Marshall Stewart III, one of the original creators of the Raleigh Flea Market, heeded the call of an old high school friend to reclaim his family’s legacy and re-elevate the flea market to its former glory days.
Today, Mr. Stewart is excited to return as manager of the Raleigh Flea Market—North Carolina’s original flea market. He is dedicated to bringing excitement back to the fabled shopping venue with plans to add fun attractions, delicious food options, and even more great vendors while maintaining the family-friendly atmosphere that the flea market has always promoted.
Community Commitment
Raleigh Flea Market, LLC is dedicated to serving our community. We encourage all local non-profits, from churches to scouting groups, to contact us about holding their fundraising events here at the Raleigh Flea Market.
Raleigh Flea Market, LLC will select a "featured non-profit" that will receive a prominent spot inside the Flea Market AND its name on the scrolling marquee at the corner of Hillsborough Street and Blue Ridge Road. In addition to getting great exposure and having lots of fun, groups will be able to raise necessary funds to benefit their organizations.
